Hi everybody, this is Tony Orlando. 2021 marks my 60th year in the entertainment business as a performer and a recording artist, and I go back to a time when it was the most prideful thing in the world to work three venues. One was Palisades Park, of course with my friend Bruce Morrow (Cousin Brucie)…then to work the theaters out there in Brooklyn like The Brooklyn Fox, The Brooklyn Paramount Theatre with Murray the K. Then there was the Dick Clark Show. In 1961, as a 16 year old kid, I had the great privilege of working all three of those dream-like venues.
Tonight’s show is a walk through of a show I did in Brooklyn where the headliners were Jackie Wilson, Etta James, Jerry Lee Lewis; the groups were The Chantels, The Regents, and The Cleftones. And two young teenage performers were just starting out as 16 and 17 year old kids…myself, and my friend Brian Hyland. Come with us as we take that journey through those days in 1961 and we come together as friends now on my radio show, right here on 77 WABC! Saturday night 10 pm-Midnight EST!
