Hello Cousins!
WHEN YOU HEAR THE NAME ANNOUNCED ON STAGE “Ladies and Gentlemen, here’s VITO PICONE and the ELEGANTS.” You know that you are in for a very good time!
Vito Joseph Picone is the lead singer and founding member of one if the most popular “Oldies” groups – The Elegants. Along with Jimmy Mochella he is a remaining original band member. Vito was born and has lived with his family in South Beach, Staten Island, NY.
Besides his successful music career, Vito has appeared in several films and television shows, including: “Goodfellas”, “Analyze This” and “The Sopranos”.
Vito and The Elegants recorded their major hit “Little Star” in 1958. The song topped the Top 100 Pop Chart and the R&B Best Sellers list. The music was adapted from the children’s nursery rhyme “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.
“Little Star” remains one of the most requested and popular DooWop songs that I play on WABC.
We happily Welcome Vito Picone to MusicRadio WABC this Saturday 4/16/22. The Little Star will shine Brightly!
I will take requests and dedications live on-air! The call-in number is 800-848-9222. You can also call in for your chance to win Cousin Brucie merchandise such as a Cousin Brucie t-shirt and a Cousin Brucie hat as well as CDs and DVDs from my friends at Oldies.com.
