Swedish Pop sensations ABBA are remembering the life of one of their beloved members today.
The group has announced via their social media platforms that their guitarist, Lasse Wellander, has passed away. He was 70-years-old.
The group posted a heartbreaking tribute to the late guitarist saying:
“Lasse was a dear friend, a fun guy and a superb guitarist. The importance of his creative input in the recording studio, as well as his rock solid guitar work on stage, was immense…We mourn his tragic and premature death and remember the kind words, the sense of humor, the smiling face, the musical brilliance of the man who played such an integral role in the ABBA story… He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.”
Wellander joined ABBA back in 1974, after being approached by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson to be a part of the now iconic group.
Wellander’s cause of death has not yet been released to the public.
