Hey Cousins!
Our visitor this week is Dennis Tufano, the original lead singer of “The Buckinghams”.
Dennis is a singer, songwriter, actor, stuntman, director and producer. Yes, he is a busy guy and he will be inducted into The California Music Hall of Fame on September 23, 2023.
Dennis was part of the Chicago Rock & Roll sound in the ‘60’s and was a member of “The Pulsations” (with John Poulos). The group auditioned for a local Chicago TV variety show (“All Time Hits”) and won a thirteen week contract.
The Producers of the show wanted the band to have a “more British sounding name”. According to Rock & Roll” mythology, a security guard suggested the name- “The Buckinghams”. They were on their way!
Between 1966 and 1968 “The Buckinghams” hit the charts with five big hits – “Kind Of A Drag”, “Don’t You Care”, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy”, “Hey Baby (They’re Playing Our Song)” and “Susan”.
Dennis always has a full concert schedule and performs on the International stage.
