Over the Labor Day weekend, music legend Jimmy Buffett passed away at the age of 76. Now, sources close to the singer have confirmed the “Margaritaville” singer-songwriter’s cause of death.
According to Buffett’s main website, the beloved musicians cause of death confirms that he passed away due to a long four year battle with Merkel Cell Skin Cancer. The website also read:
“Jimmy passed away peacefully … surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs…He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
Buffett’s official obituary reads that he “continued to perform during treatment, playing his last show, a surprise appearance in Rhode Island, in early July.”
Buffett was known for not only his classic hits such as “It’s 5’O Clock Somewhere” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, but for his lifestyle empire that he created that expanded to being the blueprint for multiple beautiful resorts, restaurants and even retirement communities branded under the “Margaritaville” name, which also comes from one of his most successful tracks.
It was also confirmed via hotel guests staying at the Palms Springs location that they lowered the flags to half mast following the heartbreaking news of Buffett’s passing.
