Hey Cousins!
They’ve Got Rhythm – Who Can Ask For Anything More….This week’s special visitor is Bob Miranda – founding member and lead vocalist of The Happenings.
They were originally called “The Four Graduates”. It was 1961 and the boys just graduated from high school in Paterson, NJ.
They were originally a cover band-playing familiar music and putting their own spin on the songs. They called their style Sunshine Pop and had several major hits, including: “See You In September” (1966), “I Got Rhythm” – (The Happenings version of the George and Ira Gershwin classic), “Go Away Little Girl”, and an amazing recording of a 1921 Al Jolson recording, “My Mammy”.
The Happenings had nine top 100 singles on the charts between 1966-1969.
So Cousins, catch the Rhythm and let’s welcome Bob Miranda to MusicRadio WABC this Saturday 12/2/23!
