Did you ever hear of a British band called The Ravens? They eventually morphed into a band called THE KINKS. They became one of the most influential bands to emerge from the British Invasion – always sounding different- I guess unique is a better description.

The Kinks were influenced by American Rock and Roll and Rhythm and Blues. As they grew the band experimented and adopted British music hall, folk and country into their music. They were and are a truly eclectic band.

Their history and success is amazing. The Kinks were formed in London in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. They had five Top Ten singles in the American Charts, nine of their albums hit the Top 40 And they have sold over 50 million records worldwide. The original members of the band were inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

A very brief list of their hits –

1964 -You really Got Me
1964 – All Day and All of the Night
1964 – Tired of Waiting For You
1965 – Who’ll Be Next In Line
1965 – A we’ll Respected Man
1966 – Dedicated Follower of Fashion
1966 – Sunny afternoon
1966 – Dandy

The Kinks history was spectacular and controversial – we shall discuss this on Saturday (2/3) with our guest – original member and co-founder of The Kinks – Dave Davies. This will be a truly Special visit.
