a Memphis based R&B record company and honor their roster that includes names like SAM & DAVE, ISAAC HAYES, JOHNNY TAYLOR, CARLA THOMAS, RUFUS THOMAS,EDDIE FLOYD ,and the incredible STAPLE SINGERS.
Yes, I am so privileged to honor and pay tribute to my very special guest, a legendary musician, producer, and songwriter of Memphis…STEVE CROPPER!
The man who co-wrote these amazing songs like “(Sittin’ On)The Dock Of The Bay” with OTIS REDDING, and “In The Midnight Hour”with, and for WILSON PICKETT! Oh yes, and “Knock On Wood” by EDDIE FLOYD, and the forever iconic recording “Shaft“ by ISAAC HAYES! Without question, STEVE CROPPER is one of the most respected R&B, Rock & Roll, & Blues guitar players by all musicians and created the legendary house band, BOOKER T and the M.G.’S!!! And that band also had major R&B hits of their own like “Green Onions”, which STEVE CROPPER also wrote and produced.
Yes, STEVE CROPPER is a living, breathing, Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll legend! He is also, by the way, an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, and he even played a major part in the BLUES BROTHERS iconic films, along with the comedic genius of JOHN BELUSHI and DAN AYKROYD, the creators of the BLUES BROTHERS films.
Yes, I am so honored to have an incredible legend, the music industry’s STEVE CROPPER, as my very, very special guest this Saturday night.!!! And to focus on the soulful city of Memphis, Tennessee… a city that gave us a treasure chest of artists and records that can only be described as the root of the greatest R&B, and Rock and Roll records ever made.
