Hello friends!
In the still of this Saturday night, we revisit a decade that gave us the birth of Rock and Roll, thereby crowning a king … ELVIS PRESLEY! He became the Rock as the world began to Roll! It was a time when automobiles had fins like great white sharks, and people wore blue suede shoes!
And every man wore suits and ties, and under every lamp post in every neighborhood something called “DOO-WOP” was born, and that is what and where our show goes this Saturday night! Even my phone call is to the incredible former lead singer of the 50‘s iconic singing group THE PLATTERS, FRANKIE PIZZARO! Hopefully he answers my prayer! As we continue to get lost in the Fifties this Saturday night and pay tribute to an innocence unmatched. Yes, when super tv mega-stars were puppets like HOWDY DOODY, or cartoon characters like super mega-star MICKEY MOUSE, who even had his own tv show club and a theme song we all remember…do you remember?
“M-I-C, see ya real soon! K-E-Y, why? Because we like you! M-O-U-S-E!” And remember the singing cowboys GENE AUTRY and ROY ROGERS? And television had hit shows in the name of dogs yes, superstar dogs such as LASSIE and RIN TIN TIN!
Now, look, I know that so many of our listeners are too young to remember and may never relate to those names and shows of the 50’s, but there are as many out there who do, and to them we dedicate this show, and to our young audience that are the internet generation!
They have learned to love info of pop culture and embrace history and the artists of the decades that built Pop Music, Rock and Roll, Rhythm & Blues, and yes…that it all began in the Fifties!
Oh yes, and on this Saturday night’s show, we also pay tribute to a genre of a great music called …DOO- WOP!! ! I’ve always said it and I’ll say it again… it all started with DOO-WOP!!! Yes, I’m proud to do a radio show that’s gone from Doo-wop to Hip-Hop! And I love it all !!!
