This Saturday Night’s Special Guest Is John Sebastian of ‘The Lovin Spoonful’

7-24-cousin-article

Hi Cousins!

JOHN SEBASTIAN grew up in Greenwich Village during the 1960’s Folk scene and immersed in everything from Folk to Rock & Roll. John came from a creative family – his dad was a classical harmonica player and his mom was a comedy writer. Before forming The Lovin’ Spoonful, he was briefly a member of The Mugwumps in 1964, a folk group that included future members of ‘The Mamas and the Papas’.

His band ‘The Lovin’ Spoonful’ was obviously inspired by his early days in Greenwich Village and by his exposure to Folk legends like Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly and Pete Seeger.

The Lovin’ Spoonful was inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000 – their distinctive folk rock sound gave us hits like, “Do You Believe in Magic?” , “Summer in the City”, “Daydream” & “Did You Ever Have To Make Up Your Mind” and John’s huge solo hit “Welcome Back”. I’ll ask John to tell us about his unbelievable impromptu appearance at The Woodstock Festival (1969).

Let’s welcome our guest John Sebastian this Saturday 7/27/24.
