ROCK & ROLL CALL
Chubby Checker, (born Ernest Evans) on October 3, 1941, is a major figure in American music, best known for popularizing the dance craze “The Twist.” Chubby’s version of the song, (Hank Ballard wrote it and originally recorded it) became a sensation after its release in 1960, topping the charts twice—first in 1960 and again in 1962 – a musical milestone.
Chubby’s vibrant performances and his energetic dance style, transformed social dancing and made “The Twist” a cultural phenomenon. He continued to record hits and remains active in music and concerts.
Besides “The Twist,” Chubby Checker scored seven Top Ten Hits- “Let’s Twist Again (1961), “Limbo Rock” (how low can you go?) ,”The Hucklebuck”, “Pony Time” , “The Fly” and “Slow Twisting”.
Chubby is a delight to watch on the stage and truly remains one of our brightest stars – and remember, he is the guy who got us dancing again.
Chubby will be headlining our PNC Show on July 19th. Starring Chubby Checker, The Cowsills and the Happenings. Get your FREE tickets NOW!
