Hello everyone!
Of all the Saturday night shows I have done here on Music Radio 77 WABC over the last four years….This is the show I keep getting thousands of requests to re-broadcast again & again! People who say “Oh man! It’s not on YouTube, and I want to play it for my friends who missed it, please!!!” Well …here we go!
We are replaying it, THIS Saturday night for all to hear again. What show would it be, and who is that artist that stands alone?!….The one and only BILLY JOEL!!! So, here’s to all you BILLY Joel fans out there, I finally can do it again! This is an artist normally sells out 50,000 seat stadiums, but now he prefers small and more intimate rooms, like MADISON SQUARE GARDEN! LOL! Which he sold out over 100 shows in a row at, and recently retired those performances this year.
The Garden of course, is an arena built for champions, and that is exactly what BILLY JOEL is… a champion! He’s like that statue of ROCKY, standing hands high in a victory pose knocking out his opponent… the one of a kind in Philadelphia. Or, like that famous pose of MUHAMMAD ALI, both hands held high looking down at his knocked out opponent standing alone in the ring…that is the image you will be left with this Saturday night! out with his GENIUS! AND so, my guest is a man who has been by his side and in his band for 42 years!
Talk about loyalty on both ends! Yes, that sidekick is SUPER SAXMAN, and SINGING SOUL MAN, MARK RIVERA! A formidable musician, singing entertainer force in his own right. I thought this most asked- to be-repeated show should also have MARK RIVERA’S interview inserted, so repeating this incredible “BILLY JOEL Stands Alone Show” is now perfect for all of us BILLY fans! And now, the show is a true treasure!
