This Saturday Night’s Special Guest Is Andy Kim!!!

Hey Cousins!

Our guest this week ANDY KIM convinced his parents to let him go to New York City to realize his dream – to become a recording artist and song writer. More than 30 million records sold (so far) Andy has accomplished his dream. He became a regular visitor to The Brill Building in NYC – the epi-center for the music industry .
The Brill was filled with major record producers and writers.

He met Jeff Barry who became his mentor. (Jeff Barry with his wife Ellie Greenwich wrote, Tell Laura I Love Her”, Do Wah Diddy Diddy and “Be My Baby” to name a few chart toppers).

Andy did not let the word “NO” stop him from his quest to record his music. He formed his own label, Ice Records, and personally financed the recording session that produced “Rock Me Gently.

He could afford to record only two sides. The single impressed Capitol Records, and they signed Andy. “Rock Me Gently” debuted on the charts in 1974 and reached number 1 after 14 weeks.

Here’s one for the books – He co-wrote “Sugar Sugar” for The Archies topping the charts in 1969. Andy was inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame and was a knockout at our WABC Gala that honored Tony Orlando.

We are proud to welcome ANDY KIM to MusicRadio WABC this Saturday 10/26/24.
