Hey Cousins!
Let’s Have A Party!!” …. When you hear that phrase- you think of – GARY U.S. BONDS.
Gary was born in Jacksonville, Florida and gained fame and fortune in the ‘60’s with hits like “ New Orleans” and “Quarter To Three.” (Sold over a million copies)
His career went through the roof when a fella named Bruce Springsteen decided to party with Gary.
His name “U S “ Bonds was (according to Rock & Roll mythology) chosen to possibly create some confusion with radio public service announcements promoting government Bonds. They hoped the Radio DJs would mistake his records for the “Buy U.S. Bonds” commercials. It worked and “New Orleans” jumped up the charts.
Besides “Quarter To Three” (reached number one ) and “New Orleans” , how’s about “School Is Out” (1961), “Dear Lady Twist” (1962), and “This Little Girl”. Plus his amazing recording with The Boss. – “Jole Blon”.
Let’s Party with Gary U.S. Bonds this Saturday 11/16/24 – we’ll dance ‘til 10.
