ROCK & ROLL CALL

Our visitor this week is MARK STEIN, the original vocalist and keyboard player for VANILLA FUDGE. The band was formed in Long Island, New York in 1966 and became one of the most influential American psychedelic bands. They were renowned for their unique style of slowing down and changing the sound of a popular song into an organ driven recording. Vanilla Fudge was an important precursor to heavy metal and progressive rock, influencing bands like Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple.

The original lineup consisted of Mark Stein (vocals, keyboards), Vince Martell (guitar), Tim Bogert (bass), and Carmine Appice (drums). They became famous for their groundbreaking cover of The Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”, which reached #6 on the Billboard charts in 1967. Other hits included: “Season of the Witch”, “Shotgun”, People Get Ready” and “She’s Not There”.

Let’s welcome Mark Stein to Music Radio 77 WABC this Saturday 1/11/25.

Enjoy the Flavor! CB
