A member of Queen has officially received the highest royal honor.
This past Tuesday, March 14th, Legendary Queen guitarist Brian May received the honor of being knighted by King Charles at Buckingham Palace.
Sources confirmed the knighting following a social media post via Instagram, in which May is seen smiling as King Charles partook in the ceremonial sword tapping on the guitarist’s left shoulder.
May, who can officially be referred to as ‘Sir Brian May’ was knighted by the royals due to his part in music as well as charity over time.
On the Queen’s official twitter account, a tweet read:
“Arise Sir Brian May. Brian’s investiture as a Knight of the Realm took place at Buckingham Palace. The knighthood was presented to Brian by His Royal Highness, King Charles. Many congratulations, Sir Brian!”
Also on the list of previous artists honored by the royal family are Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Placido Domingo, Mick Jagger, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart, Bono, Bob Geldof, Cliff Richard, George Martin, Van Morrison, the Kinks’ Ray Davies and last but not least Bee Gees’ Barry Gibb.
