The one and only Sir Elton John has a surprise up his sleeve for his fans!
The legendary singer has announced that he officially developed a “brand new show”. According to reports, the show in question will be an exclusive set for his upcoming performance at Glastonbury 2023.
He made the announcement whilst being interviewed on BBC Radio One, where he confirmed that the set will be unlike anything he has ever done before for his past live performances.
John is set to take the stage this coming Sunday (June 25) as the final headliner of the weekend festival on the Pyramid Stage as part of the music icon slot. This will also be the last and final date of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, which has included over 350 dates across the course of the last five years.
The tour was originally slated to end in 2021, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the later closeout date.
John confirmed that he will be starting the set with a song he “has not played in 10 years” and while not confirmed, many fans are speculating that he will have various special guests to help end what will be one of the most legendary performances in music industry history.
“It’s a different show to what people have been seeing. On Farewell Yellow Brick Road, there’s quite a lot of deep cuts, it’s not all hits, and you’ve got to keep people interested…When you put a setlist together, I always say it’s a bit like having sex. You start off really well, then you chill out a little bit, then towards the end of the show all hell breaks loose.”
We can’t wait to see what Elton has in store for us.
