BRIAN HYLAND will visit us this Saturday 8/31/24. In 1960 Brian helped change the direction of Pop Rock & Roll.” His number one NoviRocker “Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini” topped almost every music chart worldwide. He was 16 years old.
It was 1960 – we all needed something to make us smile. The United States sent troops to Vietnam and entered the War. Soviet Russia shot down a US U2 Spy plane and captured the pilot (Francis Gary Powers). In Cuba, Fidel Castro nationalized American Oil and Sugar interests.. The Cold War was getting Hotter. So, Brian Hyland’s Teenie Bikini hit the beach just at the right time.
We will talk about this and his other hits: “Sealed With A Kiss,” “Ginny Come Lately,” “Gypsy Woman” and “The Joker Went Wild.” Brian began studying guitar and clarinet as a child and sang in his church choir. At 14, he co-founded a harmony group, the Delfis.
